Принимаю участие в работе над каталогами стенописи Архангельского и Успенского соборов Московского Кремля.

Цель статьи — показать вклад Василия Григоровича-Барского в изучение христианских памятников Сирии, а также выявить возможную цель путешествия. Методология исследования подразумевает анализ текста с этой точки зрения, стремление выявить источники, на которые он мог опираться, а также методологию описания им архитектуры и передачи надписей. Результаты исследования могут быть использованы в спецкурсах по истории науки, поскольку в итоге автор пришел к выводу о том, что Василий Григорович-Барский был автором первого научного описания церквей VI в. в г. Изре (Сирия, Хауран).

The purpose of the article is to show scientific contribution of Vassiliy Grigorovich-Barskiy into research of Christian monuments of Syria, namely of Hauran and maybe to bring to light possible goals of his wanderings. Methods applied are critical reading Barskiy’s text as source. We will try to find sources which he could use and consider his principles for describing buildings and publishing inscriptions. The author concludes that Barskiy seems to be the first Russian and maybe European who made scientific description of 6th century churches of Izra (Syria, Hauran).
